My Beloved, The Faithful Flock of H.E. Metropolitan Abraham of Thrice-Blessed Memory,

The Peace and Love of Our Lord, God and Savior Jesus Christ be with you all.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.” 2 St. Timothy 4:7-8

It is with a tremendously heavy heart that we received the sad news of the passing of our brother in Christ, H.E. Anba Abraham, Metropolitan Archbishop of Jerusalem and the Affiliated Regions.  In addition to being a devout and indisputably holy monk from the Monastery of St. Bishoy, His Eminence was also a great scholar in both the secular and religious spheres, holding several advanced degrees in such diverse fields of study as botany, biochemistry, and Orthodox theology from such prestigious institutions as the Coptic Theological Seminary, Ein Shams University, and the University of Geneva.  Additionally, His Eminence was a polyglot, fluent in Arabic, Sahidic, Bohairic, English, German, and French.  His Eminence will be sorely missed.

In this time of great sadness, on behalf of the clergy and faithful of the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of New York and New England, I would like to offer our sincere prayers and sympathies to the clergy and faithful of the Coptic Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem.

May God comfort them during this time of immeasurable loss and provide for them a loving shepherd.

With Love in Christ and My Sincere Condolences,
